Tiny homes have come a long way since they first started gaining popularity in the early 2000s. These cute little dwellings have captured the hearts of many, promising to offer a more intentional way of living, more freedom, and financial stability. Besides providing an alternative housing solution that is more affordable, sustainable, and eco-friendly, compact dwellings are now also stylish and equipped with the latest technology and comfort creatures.
Take, for instance, the new Discovery model crafted by Compass Tiny Homes. Minimalist yet comfortable and stylish, this new tiny home follows the already proven recipe of a two-loft layout that helps make the most of the available space.

Compass Tiny Homes is a new builder of compact living spaces based in Staunton, Virginia, but they boast of having over 50 years of construction experience. Discovery is the latest tiny house coming out of their shed. With a beautifully simple aesthetic, this mobile dwelling shows there is something special about having a simple yet elegant tiny home where you can feel at peace.

The tiny living craze has not only led to more people buying tiny houses but also to the adoption of different aesthetics in tiny home design. Today, there is an impressive variety of styles that cater to the owners' diverse tastes and needs, but modern, minimalist tiny homes remain the most popular with those who want to downsize their lifestyle.

The Discovery model boasts a minimalist design as well, but it is built as a personal sanctuary and strikes the perfect balance between comfort, style, and space. Moreover, it maximizes functionality by using all the available vertical space. As such, future owners will be able to enjoy all the benefits associated with downsizing without sacrificing comfort.

Built on a triple-axle trailer, Discovery is 28 feet long and 8.5 feet wide. It offers 327 square feet of interior space, with a layout that comprises a compact living room, a gorgeous, versatile kitchen, a functional bathroom, and two decently sized sleeping lofts. It would be ideal for a couple or a small family looking for a simpler way of life.

The exterior is clad in a combination of metal and cedar siding, all painted in white, complemented by a durable metal roof that comes with a manufacturer's 45-year finish warranty. There are eight windows and a full glass door with built-in blinds that ensure the interior is well-lit and ventilated.

On the inside, the shiplap walls are also painted bright white, which open up the interior, making it feel airy, light, and serene. The designers added wood trim and beams throughout for a rustic touch and luxury vinyl waterproof flooring. The use of natural materials and neutral colors creates a calming atmosphere.

The interior layout emphasizes the efficient use of vertical space, which enhances the home's functionality. For one, we have not one but two lofts. While some designers forgo lofts altogether in favor of ground-floor bedrooms, Discovery has two of them, which can be configured as cozy sleeping areas that are separate from the main living areas. For a family with older children who are perfectly capable of going up and down the stairs or a ladder, lofts are a very convenient way to incorporate their own private space into a tiny house.

Most tiny house owners put a mattress in the lofts of their homes, but these spaces could also be used as a home office, secondary place to hang out, or storage area. The images released by Compass Tiny Homes show the main loft above the bathroom used as a comfy bedroom with a queen-size bed, built-in nightstands, storage cubicles, and wall-mounted lights, while the smaller loft is configured as an office with a desk and office chair.

On the ground level, we have an open-floor layout with a seamless transition between the compact living room and the kitchen. The latter is definitely the star of the house, designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. It features large white cabinets, butcher block countertops, and stainless steel appliances.

Some 42" tall upper cabinets, coupled with several open shelves, leverage the available vertical space in the kitchen to offer additional storage space.

A full-size sink, a 10-cu-ft fridge/freezer, and a gas range will allow owners to cook their favorite meals, which they'll be serving at a multifunctional rolling island designed to double as a dining table.

The bathroom inside Discovery is also modern and functional, packing in a tub, a flushing toilet, a vanity with a countertop sink and mirror, and some shelves for toiletries and towels. A propane tankless hot water heater and washer/dryer combo unit are also installed in the bathroom.

The Discovery tiny house on wheels is available for $109,000. Modern and minimalist, yet packed with incredible assets, this compact dwelling ensures a high standard of living, making the idea of downsizing less dreadful.
