Tesla launched the 2023 Holiday Update this week with many features, although not everything went smoothly. Based on some reports on social media, Tesla owners noticed that Full Self-Driving (Beta) options disappeared from the menu after installing the update. However, there are easy ways to get it back.
This year's Holiday Update has been faced with mixed feelings after the release notes first leaked online. At the time, Elon Musk admitted that Tesla needed to step up its software game. It appears that Tesla's software engineers took this as a strong hint because, days later, the EV maker published the official release with some killer new features. This came on top of the Autosteer software recall fix that Tesla pushed to its fleet.

The update included the much-hyped High Fidelity Park Assist feature that is supposed to make Tesla drivers forget about the bird's eye view offered by competing brands. Based on the feedback shared on social media, the feature comes in handy when parking your Tesla in tight spots. Still, the 2023 Holiday Update has some undocumented features that wowed people.

One of them is the Autowipers improvements, fixing the issues that have annoyed Tesla owners for the past six years. Those installing the update noticed they could toggle Autowipers off even when driving with Autopilot or FSD Beta. Until now, those features were connected, and you couldn't engage Autopilot without allowing the wipers to have a will of their own. That meant wiping the windshield on a sunny day and refusing to work in the rain, which was not exactly ideal.

All these features are nothing short of impressive, but not everything is golden. After installing the Holiday Update, either with 2023.44.30.2 or 2023.44.30.4, some owners with FSD Beta noticed the feature disappeared from their cars. The bug was widely shared on X, but Teslascope was the account that not only made it famous but also offered a solution. This might not work for everyone, though, so Tesla will still need to provide a definitive fix with an upcoming OTA update.

According to the Teslascope account, which credited Brian (@ArcticSolace) for the tip, people notice there are only Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer (Beta) listed in the Autopilot menu after installing the Holiday Update. To make the third toggle (Full Self-Driving (Beta) reappear, you need to reboot the vehicle by holding both scroll wheels in until the Tesla logo appears on the screen. Make sure you're in a parking position when you do this, as it might take a while.

This fix doesn't work for everyone, though, and some people are now working with Tesla to find a solution. Other users discovered that searching for full self-driving, or even simply "full," in the Autopilot menu would make the toggle button reappear without needing a reboot. At the time of writing, Teslascope reports about 2,620 vehicles on the 2023.44.30.2 software. Not A Tesla App has 7,300 cars on this version and 3,000 on 2023.44.30.4, which is also affected by the bug.
