Tesla Odyssey of Pioneers Throws a Party in Malibu

On Saturday evening, Malibu was the place to be for anybody who is anybody, as American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, together with partner Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer, threw a party to celebrate the arrival of the Odyssey of Pioneers on American soil.

Held at a private estate in Malibu, the party was attended by actors Kellan Lutz (Twilight), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), several other marking figures of the entertainment industry and, of course, Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk.

"Tonight is a celebration of two companies committed to innovation and taking their respective industries to the next level of prestige and performance," TAG Heuer CEO Ulrich Wohn said at the event.

Aside for food and drinks, the party also hosted one very special moment: the public appearance of the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster. This being the 12th stop of the Odyssey, the car was displayed in all its might, complete with the TAG Heuer Meridiist communications device and TAG Heuer Pendulum Concept, the timepiece which will go down in history as the world's first to use a magnetic oscillator without a hairspring.

Presented at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster embarked on a 22,000 miles trip (35,000 km) around the world which started in March in Monaco. The Odyssey will cover 15 cities and more than 150 towns on three continents. For the entire duration, the Roadster will be charged using existing infrastructure.

After a few more days spent in the US. the final leg of the journey will see the Roadster in London and Paris.
