TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster Reaches LA

The combined work of American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has finally ended its European and Asia tour and arrived in Los Angeles, from where it will embark on the American Odyssey of Pioneers tour.

In the US, the 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster will be stopping in 12 cities, including Las Vegas, Houston, Baton Rouge, Orlando, Miami, Savannah, Raleigh, Washington DC and New York. In LA, the car will be on display at the Tesla Los Angeles store starting this Saturday.

Presented at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, the special Tesla model features an interior design signed by Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, and brought to live with TAG Heuer design elements. The most striking feature of the model is the center console, purpose built to host a TAG Heuer concept watch.

Aside for the center console, the model incorporates a TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone and a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch. The exterior of the car, made in Foucault Field Gray, matches the unique interior touches.

The Odyssey of Pioneers is a 22,000 miles trip (35,000 km) around the world which started in March in Monaco. The trip will end in October in Paris. For the entire duration of the trip, which will cover 15 cities and more than 150 towns on three continents, the Roadster has been and will be charged using existing infrastructure.

Along the way, Tesla managed to achieve something not easily doable: it became the first foreign car to have been allowed to park in Moscow's renowned Red Square.
