The Tesla Model Y gets off-road forged wheels from Unplugged Performance. The set is specifically designed for the electric crossover and, depending on the mounting method, they can be used both on and off the tarmac.
The 18'' UP-03Beadlock Off-Road Spec Forged Wheels are – Unplugged Performance claims – "groundbreaking," making the Tesla Model Y more versatile when the time comes for it to leave the tarmac behind.

The set allows two different tire mounting methods. First, the tire’s bead can be mounted on the outside of the wheel’s rim and is locked in place using titanium hardware to secure the beadlock rings to the wheel. This method allows for tire pressure applications in off-road settings.

Tire pressure can be reduced to as low as 5 psi. Once the pressure level goes down, the size of the tire’s contact patch with the ground grows, thus offering more traction.

Second, the bead of the tire can be mounted inside the rim, with or without the deadlock ring, for daily driving. Thus, owners will have wheels that offer the best performance in rough terrain as well as on asphalt. The DOT-compliant for highway use method turns the wheel into a standard one.

The Unplugged Performance wheels are made of high-strength forged aluminum, which makes them lightweight, durable, and can withstand challenging off-road experiences.

Since it is designed and engineered to be a perfect fit for the Model Y, owners can continue to use the Tesla factory lug nuts, center caps and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors. The wheels are available in 18 inches, with either Satin Black or Satin Titanium, both the same price: $1,123.75 per wheel, which means that customers will pay $4,495 for all four of them, plus shipping costs.

Unplugged Performance CEO Ben Schaffer claims that these wheels are a preview of what the Cybertruck is ready to offer once it hits the road. Or the off-road, for that matter.

The Tesla Model Y has two stock wheel options available. Customers can get the 19-inch Gemini wheels with all-season tires, which are included in the price of the standard version: $39,390. Equipped with this set, the Model Y has a standard EPA-rated range of 330 miles (, while the Performance version stops at 303 miles (488 kilometers).

The other option in the Model Y lineup is the 20-inch Induction wheel set, also shod with all-season tires. Customers have to pay an extra $2,000, and the range of the electric crossover is down to 318 miles (512 kilometers) for the Model Y Long Range or to 303 miles for the Performance version.

There is no word on how much the Unplugged Performance 18’’ UP-03Beadlock Off-Road Spec Forged Wheels affects range, but a modification compared to the standard figures is expected.
