As Tesla prepares to deliver the refreshed Model 3 in the US in the coming days, all eyes are on the Model 3 Performance variant. Rumored to arrive in the second quarter, the sportiest Model 3 has inflamed the fans' imagination. After its bucket seats have been revealed in a previous leak, we now have an image confirming that the same seats will also be available in white.
Tesla launched the refreshed Model 3 in the US after doing the same in Europe and Asia last year. For all the exciting upgrades the new model brings, it also has a couple of flaws. Among the latter, the lack of stalks might prove the most problematic, as many potential buyers decried it. Even for those willing to overlook this, the price might be a steep enough barrier.

Although the Model 3 sells for the same price as the outgoing model, there's a notable difference: the revamped model does not qualify for the IRA tax credit. Whatever the reason, it makes the Model 3 Highland more expensive than the Model Y, and not only trim for trim. Considering the $7,500 tax credit, the Model Y Performance is cheaper than a Model 3 LR AWD by $1,000.

Based on what Tesla states on its website, the only Model 3 variant that will benefit from the full tax credit is the Model 3 Performance, which is not yet available to order. The fact that Tesla names it "Model 3 Performance" on its website is enough evidence that the sporty Model 3 will carry on with the same name. This, of course, does not exclude an even beefier model, named Ludicrous or Plaid, as some people still believe. However, I'll continue to call it the Model 3 Performance until more evidence surfaces about a Ludicrous or Plaid badge.

We've seen in an earlier leak that the refreshed Model 3 Performance will feature bucket seats with better side support during cornering. The seat design resembled what we've seen in one of Green's software leaks, but seeing the real thing is always better. The seats in the leaked picture were grey/black, making some people wonder whether this will be the only combination available.

Thanks to a new Model 3 Performance prototype caught on camera, we can safely confirm that the Model 3 Performance will also be available with white seats. This has always been the case with the Model 3 Performance (and still is with the Model Y Performance). Still, the previous model shared the same seats as the regular models. This will be the first time Tesla offers the Model 3 Performance more distinctive features inside and out.

As revealed in another scoop, the upcoming Model 3 Performance will also feature redesigned front and rear spoilers with more aggressive aerodynamics. This explains the recent camo wrap covering these parts. The trial production of the upcoming Model 3 Performance is rumored to have already started at Tesla Fremont. The first deliveries are expected in the second quarter of 2024 or earlier, so stay tuned.
