Tesla Delivers First Roadsters in Canada

Although Canada is just around the corner from Tesla Motors' HQ, compared to other markets where its products are present, the first Roadster to be delivered in the country did so only after countries like Ireland or Spain received theirs.

Unlike the two European countries, though, Canada received its Roadsters in bulk, with Tesla delivering cars for customers from Toronto and British Columbia. The first two Canadians to get their Roadsters are Vincent and Maggie Argiro.

"It is both a personal and collective statement of optimism for a better future, as well as fun and actually practical transportation," the two said about the car they've received.

To mark the start of deliveries, Tesla will hold a public test drive event in Waterloo, Ontario, at Channer’s Waterloo from 10am to 4pm. The first Canadian Tesla showroom is expected to open later this year.

The Canadian appearance of Tesla Motors is part of the Electric Summer Roadster Tour announced earlier this week. Aside from Canada, Tesla will be experienced in Nantucket, Indianapolis and Naperville, with most of the events taking place in existing Tesla stores.

Also this week, the American electric vehicle manufacturer announced the opening of a store in its largest per-capita market, Switzerland. Prior to the opening of the store, Tesla has already delivered 50 Roadsters throughout the country. The appetite of the Swiss for the electric vehicle is fueled by several incentives, including a 100 percent waiver of the annual road tax or exclusivity in accessing city centers.
