Tesla Motors' European expansion continues, with the latest addition to the store portfolio being the one in Zurich. The American EV manufacturer announced the opening of the store today, hoping to make the Pelikanstrasse 10 location the heart of the Swiss Tesla evolution.
"Tesla’s remarkable success in Switzerland makes perfect sense – testimony not only to Swiss consumers' longstanding focus on innovative technology but also to the Roadster's all-weather durability," Cristiano Carlutti, Vice President of Tesla’s European sales and operations said in a statement.
"We certainly share their passion for both the environment and high-performance sports cars, and we look forward to becoming even closer to our community of customers and fans when we open the new showroom."
Prior to the opening of the store, Tesla has already delivered 50 Roadsters throughout Switzerland, a country which is currently its largest per-capita market. In Switzerland, the EV qualifies for several incentives, including a 100 percent waiver of the annual road tax or exclusivity in accessing city centers.
According to the carmaker, being the only sports car that can be fully or partially recharged by renewable energy, the Roadster is the perfect vehicle for those using renewable energy for their every day needs.
Of course, Tesla is also trying to capitalize on a very interesting feature of the Roadster in Switzerland. Having no need for oxygen to burn fuel, the EV does not lose efficiency at altitude and can pass through the Alps with ease.
