Tesla showed a Cybertruck beating a Porsche 911 on the drag strip while towing another Porsche 911 on the night of the hangover event, which took place on November 30. But was it real, or was it just a publicity stunt? Here is the real drag race. Elon Musk is so not going to like this!
So here is the Tesla Cybertruck right next to a rival that has never been… a rival: the Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Tesla pickup truck brags about 845 horsepower (857 metric horsepower) and 10,296 pound-feet (13,969 Newton meters) of torque at the wheel, all pumped out by a tri-motor setup.

Those three motors have to pull a massive 6,843 pounds (3,104 kilograms). And the EV has the Cheetah Launch Control, which takes it from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 2.6 seconds. Beat this, Porsche!

Then, there is the Porsche 911 Turbo S with its 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six that churns out 640 horsepower (650 metric horsepower) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton meters) of torque. It weighs around half of the weight of the Cybertruck, tipping the scale at 3,616 pounds (1,640 kilograms).

That should have been as light as a feather for the Cybertruck towing it on the drag strip. The electric pickup truck has a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds (4,990 kilograms). The 911 Turbo S has that head-slammed-into-the-headrest 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) with Launch Control in only 2.7 seconds.

Now, the time has come for the Cybertruck to take on the Porsche 911 Turbo S. James from Throttle House drives the EV, and Thomas is in command on board the Porsche. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and off they go. The super-torque-ish Cybertruck gets away, but then, that twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six kicks in, and the Cybertruck trails behind.

The 911's trap speed is higher than the Cybertruck's top speed, which is 130 mph (210 kph).

A roll race is up next, and the Cybertruck looks like a plane taking off. Until the Porsche supersonic has something to say against it, and the EV has to face a second loss. James complains about fighting the drag at speeds above 80 mph.

James and Thomas have already had a test drive with the Cybertruck. They kicked it, slammed a showing kart into it, jumped on the tonneau cover, and lost some carrots in the process, trying to prove that the lid of the frunk and the doors can easily chop off fingers.

Tesla never mentioned what Porsche 911 variant the Cybertruck battled at the dragstrip back in December. Most likely, it wasn't the Turbo S. And we can totally understand why. Winning against a 380-horsepower (385-metric horsepower) Porsche 911 Carrera, for instance, should be easy for the Cybetruck.
