We all need guidance in our lives. It can come from family or friends. It can come from movies or books. "Do or do not. There is no try." has been my favorite motto for many years. But I've been recently living by "Improvise. Adapt. Overcome."

Growing up as kids, we often dream about Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche. Growing up in a modest family means you won't be able to own one immediately. While some give up on that dream and buy a regular, boring car, others push on and choose the bumpy road. Project cars are a curse and a blessing, depending on how you handle the whole thing. They will put you through hell during the build and if anything goes wrong (and things go wrong often).

But they will also make you feel exceptional inside when you're driving. Earlier today, I showed you an exciting battle around the racetrack between a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a McLaren 750S. But I wasn't going to skip on the opportunity of seeing how a tuned Mitsubishi Eclipse can faire against Tesla's Cybertruck. Before jumping into the main event, let's get a quick overview of what these cars can do.

The Cybertruck you see here is the mid-level model, meaning it has a dual-motor setup and AWD. If this is the first time you have seen the numbers, they are 600 hp, 6,603 lbs (2,995 kg), and a 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) time of just over four seconds. It will top out at 112 mph (180 kph), cutting it close for today's race. In the other corner, we've got an excellent old ICE-powered Mitsubishi Eclipse with plenty of upgrades to make it worthy of the challenge.

It's not as shiny as Paul Walker's Eclipse from The Fast and the Furious, but it will have to do. You could call this one a GSX or an Eclipse "Evo", because it has two of the main components required: a turbocharged 4G63 engine (off on an Evo VIII) and AWD. At 440 hp, it's not quite as potent as the Cybertruck, but it weighs less than half of the big EV. These ICE vs. Battery wars have been going on for a while now.

And by now, we are all aware of what will happen over the first section of the challenge. The Eclipse only stands a chance beyond a certain point, but the driver must be spot-on with the gearshifts to get there. Like it or not, technology has come a long way since the '90s. Sure, you can say that modern cars don't have any soul, but that doesn't mean they're slow. Either way, by the end of this race, Elon will undoubtedly gain a few more admirers.
