Tesla CEO Confirms Apple Meeting, Says Deal Is “Very Unlikely”

Elon Musk has confirmed the recent rumor that claimed Tesla Motors had a meeting with Apple last year, but said it is “very unlikely” that the Palo Alto-manufacturer will be bought by any company.

“We had conversations with Apple. I can’t comment on whether those revolved around any kind of acquisition,” Must told Bloomberg in an interview, adding that he’d be “very concerned in any acquisition scenario that we become distracted from that task which has always been the driving goal of Tesla.

“We need to say super focused on creating a compelling mass-market electric car,” he added, referring to the “Model E” that’s rumored to be unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show with a 200-mile range and a sub-$40,000 price tag.

Earlier this week, The San Francisco Chronicle revealed, quoting anonymous sources, that Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Apple chief of mergers and acquisitions Adrian Perica has a secret meeting last year.
