Goldplus, a division of Titan Industries that handles jewelry business is planing to celebrate 5,000 years of Indian jewelry by giving birth to the world’s first jewelry car. The idea seems like a normal one, with multiple similar initiatives having been launched in various segments of the industry over the years.

However the company has chosen an unusual pathway to achieve its goal, as it plans to use a Tata Nano as a base for its project.

We knew that the Nano was more than just the world’s cheapest car, but this takes’s the little Indian vehicle’s game to a whole new level. We don’t know if there’s any metaphor here - we can only tell you that the project uses the Goldplus Nano name and that it will become a reality in the course of the following year.

"To celebrate 5,000 years of Indian jewelery, we plan to come out with the world’s first jewelery car - Goldplus Nano - sometime next year,” Titan Industries COO (jewelery division), Mr C. K. Venkataraman was quoted as saying by

The special Nano will come to the world following a special design competition that had been held by the company. The contest organizers say the employees have created no less that 120 designs for the projects. A special team trimmed these down to three. Now, the public is asked to vote for the best, which will make it into production and be showcased by April next year.

The company will build a one-off example of the vehicle that will be used as a symbol of its capabilities and will not be for sale.
