Tata Plans Hybrid Nano

It seems that the Indians from Tata not only want to build the cheapest car in the world, but also the cheapest hybrid in the world, as the company’s chairman said in an interview with The Maeil Business Newspaper from South Korea.

According to the same newspaper, Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group, said that in India low-priced products create a bigger demand than high-end products, therefore he thinks that the so called low price revolution will continue around the world.

Tata, the biggest Indian automaker and owner of European brands Land Rover and Jaguar, is sure that the future of the auto world lies in economic-friendly models. Ratan Tata did not elaborate the Nano hybrid topic.

The first $2,000 Nano was delivered in India in July. The chairman also added that Tata might be interested in exporting another of its vehicles, their light truck known as “the Ace.” The Indian company is considering building and selling their truck in South Korea, where they already own a plant.

Just like any successful business man, Ratan Tata is always thinking about the future of his business. In order for the company to grow, Tata will concentrate on biotechnology and bioengineering. His aim is to find new ways to enter the nutrient-enriched food market. The group is also interested in investing in Vietnam and US.

Apart from that, Tata is also considering investments in automobiles, software and hotel businesses as well as bio fuel in South American markets such as Brazil and Argentina.
