Tata Motors announced that the Nano’s price will be increased by up to 4 percent and that the car’s production will be increased as the Sanand plant will debut production ahead of schedule.
The Indian company said that the retainee customers are being informed of delivery, with the move succeeding the Nano’s sales debut. The retainee customers category includes the people who haven’t been included in the first lot of customers. Tata Motors made the selection in the early booking process performed last year.
"Despite a steep increase in input prices, Nanos are being priced only 3%-4% higher, depending on the model, than the price announced at launch,” a Tata release stated. “The terms and conditions of booking had provided that the applicable price of the car for a retainee-customer would be notified at the time of delivery."
The first batch of Nano customers are still waiting to receive their vehicles. They will pay the original price that was announced at the car’s launch back in March.
Tata has decided to offer a compensation for the long waiting period to these customers. The automotive producer said that it would offer customers an optional benefit, They will be able to choose between a free one year scheduled maintenance contract or an accessory package.
The Sanand production site has a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per year.
"The Tata Nano has already received an overwhelming response," the Tata Motors statement concluded. "With the ramp-up at the Sanand plant, customers will soon be able to freely purchase the Tata Nano."
