The third generation Suzuki Grand Vitara / Escudo has been with us since 2005, and has hardly changed since its launch, receiving, however, a mild facelift in 2008, as well as two updated engines. Now, four years in the future from its last makeover, the Grand Vitara has gone in for some (again minor) nip and tuck, to keep it looking fresh.
While we can’t say it’s won us over, it does represent visible progress over the old version, with new headlights, grille and bumpers bringing it into 2012. On the inside, the dash looks exactly the same as that of the current car, however, some material quality improvements are warranted, as the car never really excelled in this area.

Powering the new car, we expect Suzuki to retain the 2.4-liter engine with 165 hp, as it has made up the bulk of all sales since its launch, despite the fact that the European version comes with an even smaller, 2.0-liter engine with 140 hp, which is said to actually move the car along much quicker than its small output suggest, especially on a large car like this.
