Subaru has just taken the wraps off the coolest mom-mobille ever, the XV crossover that sports anthracite wheels, bodywork that’s the color of the old Focus ST and a lot of little details that make it stand out.
The Japanese carmaker brought the XV Concept to the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year. The vehicle is also significant because it debuts the new generation of 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter boxer engines and the 2.0-liter Boxer Diesel. To help with the economy, Subaru has also fitted it with CVT transmission and the Auto Start Stop system with Idle reduction.
The base 1.6-liter has 114 horsepower and comes with a 5-speed manual as standard, though the CVT is available. The 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint takes 13.1 seconds, while the top speed is 179km/h (111mph). That might sound slow, but it also averages 6.5 liters/100 km (36.2 mph).
Next up is the 2.0-liter boxer with 150 horsepower, which pushes the car to 100 km/h (62mph) 10.5 seconds, maxes out at 187km/h (116mph), while delivering a combined fuel efficiency of 6.9 liters per 100 km (36.2mpg).
Last but not least, the 2.0-liter diesel now puts out 147 horsepower and is only offered with a 6-speed manual. It’s even faster to 100km/h (62mph), taking 9.3 seconds to get there and has a top speed of 198 km/h (123mph), while also returning a combined economy of 5.6 liters per 100 km (42mpg).
