Subaru to Phase Out the Tribeca by the End of 2012

The Subaru Tribeca or B9, was never a match for its more established rivals, being a quirk car one would buy just to be different, or to enjoy the nice 3.0 or 3.6-liter flat-six engines, which despite not being powerful enough for the body, are some of the cleverest, smoothest and most refined engines around.
According to Motor Trend, the big SUV will be killed off by the end of 2012, despite a decent facelift and an engine upgrade it underwent in 2007, it never really appealed to the buyers who opted for its European or Japanese rivals, which were quicker, better looking and a lot more efficient.

Apparently, a Subaru official admitted, in a rather indirect fashion, that the Tribeca model-year 2013 will be the last of its kind. The move is further justified by the recent(-ish) launch of the XV Crosstrek, but also more ‘mature’ cars in their range like the Outback, Legacy and the new Forester which is due to be launched very soon.

Subaru are not planning on bringing a replacement to the marketplace, and in the current economic conditions, it wouldn't be wise to do so.
