The news family men (and women) across America have been waiting for all year finally came today. Fuji Heavy Industries' Subaru has just announced details about the all-new Outback's launch.
The 2015 Legacy's practical brother is going to be shown in US spec at the upcoming new York Auto Show. 14 days from now, we're likely to see a brand new take on a familiar recipe, with better looks and new technology.

Based on the single teaser photo, the all-new Outback borrows from the Legacy and the Viziv II concept. Striking LED accents define a square shape around the headlight projectors. There's also less of a wagon look going on, as the new Outback, likely to be sold as a 2015 model year, takes on a crossover appearance.

The engines are pretty much guaranteed to be carryovers from the Legacy, meaning a choice of either 2.5-liter or, on higher grade models, a 3.6-liter. The Lineatronic CVT gearbox will be the fitted to both, as it's proven to be a huge stride forward for continuously variable technology.

A number of new features will also be introduced on the 2015 Outback, including the new EyeSight lane keeping assistance system.

Company CEO Yasuyuki Yoshinaga will be in New York for the event and is expected to make a speech about Subaru's financial results or future plans.

New York Auto Show 2014 timeframe:
Press day: April 16 and 17;
Open to the public from April 18 through 27, 2014
