Subaru Impreza Concept Previews Future Design Language

Subaru stunned the world at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, introducing the Impreza concept. The vehicle was praised by both the media and the public, with everybody offering the Japanese company positive feedback and encouraging it to offer a similar-looking production next-generation Impreza.

However, it seems that the study previews more than just the following Impreza - all the future Subaru vehicles will use it as a design inspiration source, as autocar reports.

The Impreza Concept is a visual translation of the Japanese carmaker’s new motto: “Confidence in Motion”. The study comes with a strong upper line, a special front grille, as well as distinct line that separates the two sides of the front fascia.

Subaru’s head of design, Osamu Namba told the aforementioned source that the aim of the project was to offer a future design direction for the the automotive producer.

Even though it has the name ‘Impreza’, it’s meant to express all models. We did have the next generation of Impreza in mind. It’s not a precise guide to the future of this model, but it is indicative of where the Impreza will go,” the executive told the aforementioned source.

The chief designer admitted that the company has suffered from a design inconsistency in the past, explaining that the company is making efforts to solve this problem.

In the past, there has been some inconsistency in the design language. This is really the first attempt to unite the language across the brand,” the designer was quoted as saying by autocar.
