Subaru has announced a massive recall covering 275,000 Forester crossovers belonging to the 2009 to 2012 model years. These were built between November 26, 2007 and March 13, 2012, and a fault with the rear seat belts has been discovered.
The automatic locking retractor in the seat belt assemblies from the rear center seating position does not meet lockability requirements and fail to comply to federal motor vehicle safety standards, the NHTSA says.

To be more precise, the seatbelt does not allow for the secure installation of a child restraint in the center position. This increases the risk of injury in case of a crash.

The recall process will start this April and dealers will have to change the rear center seatbelt assembly free of charge. To find out if your vehicle is affected, call Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
