Spyshots: Renault Megane CC in Its Undies

A little under three months are left until French manufacturer Renault pulls the wraps off the CC flavor of the new Megane and, despite the recent release of two teaser photos of the open-top, we can't help but give you yet another look at the CC.

Ignoring the somewhat ridiculous choice of camo color made by the French, the CC presents us with a very alluring physique, clearly inspired by the new Megane at the front and back, but with a somewhat different, Peugeot-ish look from the side.

Overall, the styling of the open top Megane is said to be pretty much similar to the one found on the Hatchback version, likely with the same front fascia. The changes will however be more visible at the rear of the car as, forced by the fact that the CC requires a different approach, a reworked rear end had to be designed to go with the retractable top.

Renault will likely turn to the engine line-up used in your every day Megane. The hatchback is currently offered with a choice of five diesel powertrains and three gasoline units. Bio-fuel versions are also likely.

The most powerful engine version is the 2.0l TCe configuration which develops 180 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,250 rpm. This means the car jumps from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds, all the way to a maximum speed of 139.8 mph (225 km/h). Fuel consumption is 23.1 mpg (10.2 L/100Km) city and 38.5 mpg (6.1 L/100Km) highway.

The Megane CC will be officially unveiled in Switzerland on March 2, as well as at L’Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées in Paris, France, on March 5.
