Spyshots and CGI: 2010 Alfa Romeo 149

The future Alfa Romeo 149 is going to look absolutely great. At least, this was our quick reaction when we first looked at these spyshots and computer generated images. The successor of the 147 will be based on the Fiat Bravo but will also share some parts with the long-praised MiTo.

Let's have a look at the front fascia. As you can see, especially in the CGIs as the spyshots show a heavy disguised car, the front of the car looks fairly similar with MiTo's, with lots of things sourced from the model the Italian manufacturer rolled out some months ago.

The Alfa 149 will compete with Volkswagen's Golf and will be based on the C-segment, with an overall length of 4.30 meters. It will be released only as a five-door version and will rely, as we said, on the existing Fiat Bravo platform.

As for the engines, there are only a few details at this time, but it appears that the whole range will include turbocharged petrol engine that will generate in between 120 and 265 horsepower. A GTA flavor is also on the table, with a V6 powerplant likely to be fitted on this sporty version. A six-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard, while an automatic gearbox will join the range as optional, only for some of the engines included in the range.

Currently undergoing heavy testing around Nürburgring, the Alfa 149 is likely to hit the market this summer, but no official release date has been provided yet. Pricing is said to start at around 20,000 euros.
