We ll know by now that Jaguar is working on various prototypes of the F-Type a spiritual successor to the famous E-Type and a veritable driver’s car. It will launch at the middle of next year as a convertible, but will eventually be offered as a a coupe as well, just like the XK.
However, this prototype is significant, since it actually shows a new tailpipe arrangement. Since now, we’ve seen a twin-pipe arrangement in the middle of the back of this car, just like a Porsche Boxster S.

However, this car is the more powerful version, the F-Type R, powered by a big more powerful engine. Last week, the benchmark was set by Jaguar, when they teased a supercharged V6 engine and suggested it has 340 horsepower. Rumor has it a more powerful version will be available, good for 380 horsepower.

So, all that’s left is a decent R version, and to really go after Mercedes SLK55 AMG blood, the F-Type R will likely be offered with about 450 horsepower. We don’t really know what Jaguar is trying to do, but it’s clear that we have something to look forward to.
