Jaguar’s engine range has not received any significant updates since the introduction of the 3.0D which replaced the old 2.7D. But it’s set to gain the 240 hp turbocharged straight four engine, currently found in the Evoque. With the addition of an all new supercharged V6 with two power outputs - 340 or 380 hp - the British sportscar maker will get a new heart. All the engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Of the new engines, the 380 hp variant of the V6 will find its way into Jaguar’s upcoming F-Type roadster, when it arrives in showrooms in 2013. The 2.0-liter engine will probably also make its way into a lesser powered version of the sportscar and, possibly, the XF in an attempt to claw back some market share territory from the range of 2-liter engined BMW 5-series.
