Skoda last touched the Octavia sean in 2009 when it introduced a new facelift, shown at the Paris Motor Show the year before that. This was too early to benefit from the company’s new styling direction seen on the Citigo and Rapid.
Now, they are working on a new generation to replace the sedan an estate that have been developed back in 2004.
These are the very first photos of the new Octavia that will, according to some sources, be revealed next year at the Geneva Motor Show.
It clearly uses the new grille design that connects to both headlights, making it look wider and stronger.
Offered as a 5-door liftback and 5-door estate, the Octavia MkIII will be built on VW Group’s new MQB platform, shared with the SEAT Leon, Audi A3 and VW Golf VII. This new architecture means it will be lighter and more economical than the model before it.
"The new Octavia is finished, everything is ready. Now, it is in demanding testing. Octavia looks very sporty. I think you'll like it. Every time I see it, I'm happy," said Josef Kaban, the chief designer for the car, who back in June revealed it will be shown by the end of 2012.
