2013 Honda CBR500R Photo Leak

So after all, it seems there was a lot of truth in the Honda rumor, as a picture of the oncoming CBR500R has leaked and some seemingly official data surfaced.

Undisclosed sources revealed that the new CBR model will be powered by a 470cc parallel-twin engine capable to deliver just under 47 BHP and 30 lb-ft (almost 41 Nm). The new bike sports a 6-step manual gearbox and could reach as much as 105 mph (169 km/h).

The “just under 47 BHP” isn't by far a twist of chance, but the very specific answer Honda gives to the European legislation. Since the A2 license only allows 19-yo riders to drive bikes whose power is up to 35kW (which equals to 46.9 BHP), there you go! And it's pretty clear that the new 2013 CBR500R is aimed towards the young riders, as well.

The new CBR500R will most likely be made in Thailand and therefore the prices might be quite affordable. The main game is the fuel economy: the new parallel-twin engine from the NC700X offers 64 mpg (4.5 l/ 100 km), and if the CBR500R gets the same technology, we might see beautiful figures.

The dry weight of the future bike is expected to be around 400 lbs (181 kg) while the fully-fueled bike would be around 430 lbs (under 195 kg). A bit too much for a 470cc bike, some might say, but with all the new technology and other tweaks, we dare hope the bike won't be lazy.

Finally, the same secret source mentioned that Honda has plans with the 2013 CBR500R in both US and Canada. EICMA, we're waiting!
