Aside from a Lamborghini, there’s also a Ferrari 458 part of that auto collection. For some reason (maybe the new 488 GTB?), you can’t stand the (older) model Prancing Horse. The problem is you’re too ashamed to ask your parent to buy a newer model. What do you do?
In this case, there’s nothing else left to do than to ask for advice from your friends. I mean, after all, a friend in need is a friend indeed, we all know that (especially since Placebo released the Pure Morning single). But what if your palls are wrong, and they give you advice that backfires big time? We mean this in a literal sense- In this case, you’re left with insurance fraud charges, and you may even end up in prison.
Believe it or not, all these happened. It’s one of those scenarios that could make any petrolhead quite mad. Yes, we know, we shouldn’t be judging what others do with their cash, but this is just too much.
The Prancing Horse that ended up being torched in Germany was initially a gift the 20-year-old son of a businessman from Switzerland had received from his father. For some reason, he thought the Ferrari 458 was already too old, so he wanted a newer model. Since he couldn’t ask for one, he figured he could torch the one he got and make it look like an accident.
The torched Ferrari was initially believed to be involved in a prostitution case the police were investigating. But thanks to footage taken by surveillance cameras and the phone calls the vandals took, they ended up divulging the rich boy’s plans.
All four were arrested, but the owner of the Ferrari paid the 200,000 euros ($219,000) bail and is going to be on probation for 22 months. He also ended paying a 30,000 euros ($33,000) fine, while the other received 14 to 16 months on probation.
P.S. Aside from the impressive car fleet, the son had also been given a property portfolio worth around $30 million and received around up to $10,000 (EUR 9,069) a month from his father. However, he told the judge he spent all the money he had in his bank accounts, so he couldn’t afford buying a new Ferrari.
