Once upon a time there was a maker of luxury plug-in hybrid vehicles called Fisker Automotive. Established in 2007, it became all the rage, including among Hollywood A-listers, for an insane vehicle it produced, the Karma. In 2014, despite all the hype, the company went bust.
Dying in the corporate world does not mean actually dying, and for Fisker Automotive that event meant a serious transformation. The man who set up the company, Henrik Fisker, decided to try again in 2016, so he founded Fisker Inc., the makers of current-day niche electrified cars Ocean and Pear.

The assets of Fisker Automotive ended up in the hands of Chinese company Wanxiang Group, which gave them new life as Karma Automotive. That's the maker of impressive but insufficiently successful rides like the Revero and the GS-6.

It's the Revero that brings us here today, as it just became the center of Karma's world thanks to a partnership that might, just for a short while, bring it back into the news.

The Karma Revero is a sports sedan PHEV that was all the craze between 2016 and 2020, when it was produced under the name (as a side note, the present-day GS-6 is a modernized version of it).

Powered in its initial configuration by a combination of a GM-sourced 2.0-liter inline-four engine (more recent models pack a BMW 1.5-liter) and electric motors, the car was capable of performance levels that remain impressive to this day: 404 total system horsepower and a range of up to 360 miles (580 km), 50 miles (80 km) of which in electric mode alone.

It's unclear how many Reveros were made during the car's first generation (2017 - 2019), but it seems there are enough of them out there to warrant what appears to be an extensive upgrade program for the vehicle.

We learned this week of a partnership between Karma and Spania GTA that targets "luxury and technological enhancements to 2017-2019 Reveros."

Spania GTA is a carmaker perhaps as exotic as Karma. Based in Spain, the company is responsible for making insane vehicles the likes of the Spano, a limited-edition sports car monster powered by Viper V10 engines.

It's unclear exactly how the two companies got in bed with each other, but here we are on the verge of being witness to the birth of a "special accessory package that expertly modernizes the Revero."

What exactly a special accessory package means remains, for now, a bit of a mystery, as neither of the two companies provided any additional details. Taking into account what these two do for a living, we must admit we kind of have high expectations – so we'll keep an eye out for more details and update as soon as we know more.
