Brace yourselves, winter is coming. And with it, all the major car companies and the ones that are not so major are going to try and trick us into thinking they are hip and cool by associating with snowboarders and teenagers who write extreme as "xtrm" or "xtreme" and drink Red Bull all day.
Renault seems to be the first to do so in an effort to promote the Clio GT 120 EDC, a warm hatch that slots between the regular hatchback range and the extreme Clio RS. Apparently, that makes it ideal as the first car for a pro snowboarder who's just turning 18 and is about to get his driver's license. With a 120 horsepower turbo engine it's reasonably brisk, while the EDC twin-clutch automatic gets rid of all the clutch anxiety and lets him engoy all the potential this model has to offer.
Normally in these car versus man videos, you let pro drivers behind the wheel while the athletes do the physical stuff. Renault didn't do that. The snowboarder, who doesn't have a license yet and has just turned 18, is the one who gets behind the wheel and takes on a half-pipe together with his friends.
As if that wasn't enough, the Clio GT is lifted by a crane several feel above the snow and the young snowboarder jumps out from its boot. We're pretty sure that hasn't been done before, but a hot hatch on snow should have been a far more effervescent combination than this.
