The world is still waiting for MINI to take the veils off the new Mk3 MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop. While we’re waiting, the Brits decided to give us an insight into what the car might actually look like. In this regard, they will be unveiling the complete John Cooper Works accessories program at this year’s Essen Motor Show.
Over the last few years, this venue grew bigger and bigger, gaining more attention from manufacturers around the world which is rather unusual. That’s because it’s mostly dedicated to tuning and not actual stock/production versions of cars.

Even so, BMW and MINI are known for their broad (and it’s getting even broader) range of OEM+ tuning parts. The Brits are aiming at offering plenty of choices to those that don’t necessarily want the performance and numbers of the JCW but love its look.

The new components car be retrofitted to the 3-door and 5-door versions of the new MINI hardtop and will be unveiled for the first time at Essen between November 29 and December 7. The presentation will include a 3-door model fitted with John Cooper Works Tuning parts and John Cooper Works Pro parts to showcase them. Another model will introduce the Vivid Green design line.

The John Cooper Works Tuning kit for the new MINI

One of the premieres at the Essen Show will be a new power kit for the Cooper S models, under the JCW badge. The upgrade will take the output of the S version from 192 HP and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque to 211 HP and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, closer to the numbers the real JCW Hardtop is rumored to have: 231 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

With this new kit, the Cooper S becomes the second most powerful model in the supermini segment, toppling competition like Renault's Clio RS, the Fiesta ST and even the Polo GTI, being bested only by the Audi S1. However, once the real JCW comes out, things will even out. We're expecting the world debut of the MINI JCW Hardtop to happen at NAIAS at the beginning of 2015.

The engine is not the only one that will get performance updates. The chassis is one of the key elements of any John Cooper Works car and in this regard, MINI prepared a couple of new parts that can be added to the Cooper S models. Amongst them you’ll find a new suspension that allows you to drop the ride height between 10 and 30 mm to lower the car’s center of gravity. You’ll be able to tell if a car has this system by the red springs fitted on the front axle.

Of course, an aero kit with the JCW badges on it as well as new brakes can also be had from now on. The best news is that you can order these parts right now, despite them being unveiled later this month.
