Robert, the Brazilian virtual artist better known as rob3rtdesign on social media, is passionate about all sorts of stuff - if they have a VW or South American flavor. However, every now and then, he does fall prey to international hype.
Are you familiar with the magic and imaginative realm of digital car content creators? If not, let me explain a bit. They are usually dreamers with a talent for envisioning cool new things. They do fall into different categories, though. Some only deal with the wishful thinking stuff, others are true abstract artists, and a few somehow combine the best of both worlds – and some of their projects come to life in the real world, too.
Robert is one such happy case, along with a few others like Khyzil Saleem (aka the_kyza), Chris Labrooy, or Musa Rio Tjahjono (aka musartwork) – the Head Designer at the outrageously cool West Coast Customs. The Brazilian pixel master I want to talk to you about is highly passionate about slammed widebody stuff and usually blends them with VW stuff – including the iconic Transporter. That's how two of his designs ended up transfixed into reality at SEMA 2022 by experts like Kenny Pfitzer Design!
In the meantime, of course, the dreamy CGI expert continues to play with his favorite toys – stuff like Karmann Ghia's 'Shooting Brake,' Chevrolet's Chevette or Opala, and other things like that. However, even though he loves working in his enclosed virtual bubble, it seems that he is not immune to outside influences. And that probably made him susceptible to the biggest introduction in November – Tesla's inaugural delivery event for the all-electric Cybertruck full-size pickup truck.
Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere outside of our Solar System, you probably know that Tesla will start deliveries of the long-awaited Cybertruck in 2024 with three models on offer: RWD, AWD, and the mighty 'Cyberbeast.' Naturally, the flagship trim has the most power, 845 horsepower, thanks to a tri-motor setup, and all the social media craziness with drag races against the GMC Hummer EV and Rivian R1T revolved around it.
As such, the virtual author did the only thing sane – he joined the frenzy with a signature aftermarket development. While some CGI experts think the Cybertruck would work wonders if blown to 'Cybervan' proportions, this author proposes an entirely different approach. Instead of making it even more significant, he trimmed down the ride height to slammed levels, fitted the EV with an exaggerated widebody kit that would make Liberty Walk or Pandem (Rocket Bunny) green with envy, and also fitted some massive deep-dish aftermarket wheels.
Frankly, the Tesla Cybertruck design is already preposterous – seeing it with sports car wheels, a supercar's widebody kit, and enough aerodynamic elements for a record track run doesn't seem all that illogical nowadays. It is just going to be one of the many ways that people will probably choose to stand out in a crowd – remember that Tesla doesn't offer too many personalization options from the get-go, so people will have to adapt. So, is it cool or not?
