The Japanese automaker is not letting any month slide away without a bundle of novelties – December was earmarked for the annual Kenshiki Forum in Brussels, Belgium.
Over in Europe, the novelties ran far and wide – from additions to the commercial business like the Proace Max van and Hilux Hybrid 48V to previews of the battery-powered things to come and many more. Interestingly, suppose you want hints about what is coming from the carmaker next. In that case, the Old Continent is still a good place to start digging – they recently updated both the Yaris and Yaris Cross subcompact models.
Now, if they escalate, logic dictates that next in line would be the record-breaking best-selling Corolla series. Sure, the latter made a name for itself as a compact passenger car, but starting with the E210 series, the nameplate also has a compact crossover SUV derivative based on the same TNGA-C platform. Introduced in 2020, the Corolla Cross is a great international asset for Toyota as a more extensive alternative to the all-new second-gen C-HR or even the base of the CUV lineup – like in America.
As such, the rumor mill believes – and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators approves – that Toyota's Corolla Cross might be next in line for a quick upgrade. Sure, opinions are divided, as some folks also hope to see the next 4Runner or a compact Land Cruiser make the rounds. But let us be frank – the Corolla Cross facelift is a very logical alternative as there is nearly not as much work as preparing the next-gen 4Runner or coming up with a third member of the Land Cruiser family from scratch.
As such, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of unofficially revealing the refreshed Corolla Cross. The design is a bit more mature than in OEM form, and that is a tall order as the real world's Corolla Cross is all business and no party from the design standpoint. Of course, the pixel master decided to fiddle with the most enticing version, the Corolla Cross GR Sport.
Interestingly, this variant is not available across all markets – so it would be pretty enticing to see the 2025 Corolla Cross arrive not just with a positive redesign but also bringing the feistier GR Sport version to new regions, such as North America, for example. As for technical details, there are none – only speculations. As far as we are concerned, the current powertrain options – 1.8L and 2.0-liter gasoline and hybrid variants – are still fine. But if you ask us, they could easily be supplemented by a new Corolla Cross Prime plug-in hybrid version that snatches the 220-hp setup from the great Prius Prime.
