Skoda Fabia vRS Launches in the UK

Skoda has announced that the new Fabia vRS range will be officially launched in the UK on Thursday 29 July 2010, with prices and specification having already been confirmed.

The fastest production Fabia ever built, the new vRS is available as a hatch and estate, and is powered by the same 1.4-liter TSI gasoline engine that develops 180 horsepower, the same unit fitted on the new VW Polo GTI and the Seat Ibiza Cupra.

The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission, offered as standard. The Fabia vRS features also as standard systems like ESP, HHC (Hill Hold Control) and XDS (Electronic Differential System), which boosts cornering grip. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes just 7.3 secs, and top speed is 139mph (223,7 km/h). The estate’s top speed is 140 mph (225 km/h), thanks to a slightly better aerodynamic coefficient.

CO2 emissions stand at 148 g/km for both versions, while fuel economy rated a 37.97 mpg (6.19 liters/100 km).

The new Fabia vRS features 17-inch “Gigaro” alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, rear tinted windows and the vRS body ki,t which gives the car a sportier appearance. As an option, customers can choose a white or black roof with a range of body colours, including the new Rallye Green, inspired by the Skoda Fabia S2000 rally car.

Inside, the vRS is fitted with hugging sports seats, a three-spoke steering wheel with radio controls and paddles for changing gear and MDI (Multi-Device Interface) for use with iPods and other mp3 players.

Prices start at GBP15,700 (EUR18,264) for the hatchback and GBP16,495 (EUR19,188) for the estate version.
