SEAT to Sponsor Shakira’s Tour

Spanish carmaker SEAT is preparing for their second collaboration with Shakira, the latter being the official sponsor of the international pop star’s forthcoming European tour. SEAT will therefore become directly connected to the young fans of Shakira, who is currently enjoying a great deal of success with her latest album ‘She Wolf’.

Shakira will become a SEAT ambassador, joining Jaime Alguersuarii who received a brand new Leon Cupra R, which he will drive during his spare time outside F1 action. According to the Chairman of the Spanish brand’s Board of Directors Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, the gift represents SEAT's way of supporting the successful Spanish sportsmen worldwide.

However, the agreement between SEAT and Shakira also comprises support for universal education. The Spanish car brand will also have a close collaboration with the Barefoot Foundation, created by Shakira when just 18 years of age, so as to support and help provide education for children living in extreme poverty.

As we said, this is not the first time that SEAT and Shakira have partnered to support a good cause. In 2007 the car manufacturer sponsored the ‘Oral Fixation’ European tour off the back of the singer’s ‘Oral Fixation’ album, taking to Oslo, Prague, London, Paris, Stockholm and Berlin, amongst other cities.

Moreover, SEAT also initiated a charity campaign which brought in more than 100,000 euros for the Pies Descalzos Foundation. Shakira on the other hand autographed a purple SEAT León that was dubbed SEAT Leon Pies Descalzos, which was presented at the Barcelona International Motor Show to the winner of a draw which included everyone who had made a 1 euro contribution to Shakira’s foundation.
