The title came together with the keys to a brand new Leon Cupra R, which Alguersuari will drive during his spare time outside F1 action. According to the Chairman of the Spanish brand’s Board of Directors Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, the gift represents SEAT's way of supporting the successful Spanish sportsmen worldwide.
“That is why we are delighted that Jaime, personifying the talent of the new generation of Spanish sportspeople and the youngest ever driver to debut in Formula One, will be able to enjoy driving his new Leon Cupra R – SEAT’s most powerful car ever,” said Sanz, according to the press release.
The car is truly one fine piece of machinery, as is its 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine that boasts a huge 265 PS, basically the same power achieved by the marque's FIA World Touring Car Championship car in the 2009 championship. This model is arguably the most powerful production car ever built by SEAT.
“I always had an idea that being a Formula One driver meant new challenges and a few perks. SEAT has asked me to be an ambassador for the brand, and this new eye-catching Leon Cupra R is going to be my personal car. It’s a real honor and privilege,” added Alguersuari during the special event at SEAT’s modern Martorell factory.
Alguersuari has this year become the youngest driver to ever set foot in Formula One – during the Hungarian Grand Prix – and ended his half-of-year of F1 action without a single points in his pocket. Nevertheless, he is expected to continue his run in the series in 2010 also, alongside 2009 teammate Sebastien Buemi.
