One of the hottest hot hatches around just got hotter. To celebrate SEAT’s World Touring Car Championship 2009 Title, the Swiss arm of the automotive producer has created a pumped-up version of the Leon Cupra R, dubbed Leon Cupra R 310 WCE.

Last year, SEAT managed to claim both the first and the second place in the WTCC, with Gabriele Tarquini taking the gold and Yvan Muller receiving the silver.

The Leon Cupra R World Champion Edition uses a modified version of the VW Group’s 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged TSI engine, which develops 310 hp (on the Cupra R, the powerplant delivered 265 hp). The engine, which has been modified by the German tuner ABT, allows the vehicle to leave the 60 mph (100 km/h) mark behind in 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h).

The interior of the car has received a special treatment, being fitted with extra equipment, as well as special racing elements. The car’s front passengers are accommodated by a set of sport seats that feature a Alcantara Black / Silver finish, while the center console features chrome accessories. The list of standard goodies includes a dual-zone Climatronic system, a radio/CD/ MP3 with 8 hi-fi speakers, a satnav system that uses a touchscreen display and offers Bluetooth connection.

The vehicle’s list of features also includes bi-xenon headlights, ESP, XDS (electronic limited slip differential), a tire pressure monitoring system, six airbags and a multifunctional steering wheel.

The Leon Cupra R310 WCE has a price of EUR32,310, with only 200 units to be built.
