Legendary rocker Sammy Hagar is known not only for his incredible talent as a musician but also for his love affair with fast cars. His garage is full of remarkable vehicles he has collected throughout his more than 50 years of musical career.
While the 1982 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer that featured in the "I Can't Drive 55" music video might be the most famous car he has owned, it's another Prancing Horse that is the true star of his collection - a stunning 2015 LaFerrari that he calls "the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

Now, there are supercars, there are hypercars, and then there is the Ferrari LaFerrari. Styled like a ground-bound fighter jet, this 949-horsepower hybrid supercar is in a league of its own, showcasing beauty, exceptional performance, and cutting-edge technology. With a production run limited to 499 units, the LaFerrari is a rare gem not only in Hagar's car collection but also in the automotive world as a whole.

Initially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013, the car entered production in June of that year. It was Ferrari's first full hybrid model, and at that time, it was the most powerful road car ever built in Maranello, the apex of Ferrari's engineering prowess. It was also at the top of the automobile industry in terms of price, costing around $1.4 million on release.

Equipped with a 789 hp (800 ps) 6.3-liter V12 engine as well as an electric motor outputting 161 hp (163 ps), the 2015 model is capable of a combined output of 950 hp (963 ps) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. It can reach a top speed of 217 mph (350 kph) and sprints from 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds.

With sleek, breathtaking aesthetics, impressive performance, and Formula 1-inspired features, the LaFerrari quickly became a sensation and one of the most sought-after vehicles in the world. No wonder car-crazy celebrities like Jay Kay, Dwayne Johnson, Justin Bieber, and Gordon Ramsay paid the Ferrari headquarters a visit to order their own.

The former frontman of Van Halen bought this 2015 LaFerrari directly from the factory, too, and has only driven it approximately 1,100 miles (1,770 km) in the eight years he has owned it, which is a bit unexpected as Hagar is known for actually driving his cars instead of just showing them off or hiding them away.

Now, the rock star has decided to part ways with this automotive piece of art. And this is not a distress sale whatsoever, as Hagar definitely could afford to keep it. But he says, "These cars, all cars, are meant to be driven," so he wants another gearhead to enjoy it.

The musician's LaFerrari was custom-designed with personal input from Hagar himself, and even the driver's seat is molded after his body. Actually, each LaFerrari supercar is custom-made with unique touches based on the owner's preferences, as it should be, considering the mammoth price tag. As such, each unit is a perfect blend of automotive engineering and artistic design.

It features a unique cream-white exterior, which is said to have been chosen by Hagar after seeing a picture of a 1960s Ferrari wearing a similar livery when he visited the Maranello factory in 2014. It is elegantly complemented by carbon fiber and black accents that enhance its visual appeal. Further customizations include a dark leather and carbon fiber interior that matches Hagar's jet interior and a personal touch on the steering wheel, which is adorned with Hagar's initials and birthdate.

Talking about his experience with the supercar, Hagar said the LaFerrari was "the most amazing machine with four wheels that I've ever driven" and that "This is undoubtedly my favorite car I've ever owned. It's an incredible machine, and I've adored it since I took delivery of it in 2015, but the time has come to pass it on to someone else who will hopefully enjoy it as much as I have. It's a priceless vehicle that is true to the essence of Ferrari — a marque I've loved for a long time."

Sammy Hagar's 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari will cross the auction block at Barrett-Jackson's 2024 Scottsdale Auction, which is set to be held on January 20 through 28. Hagar even plans to attend the Arizona auction event when his beloved supercar goes under the hammer. The member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame hints that there will also be some surprises for those in attendance and the winning bidder.

Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson's cofounder, also says Hagar's LaFerrari is "the cornerstone of our Supercar Salon. What better car to have as the cornerstone than a one-off, and having Sammy there, his energy . . . it's going to be spectacular."

This is one of those unique opportunities car enthusiasts and music fans alike look for, as Hagar's LaFerrari is a piece of automotive and rock and roll history rolled into one. Further details about the car and its price guide will probably be released closer to the auction date, but its unique color and the celebrity porvenance are bound to significantly drive its price up.
