The Rolls-Royce Phantom is already one of the most luxurious cars on the market, so making it even more so is no easy feat. Yet, the Brits have managed to add a touch more, by presenting at the 2018 Chengdu Motor Show in China a brand new feature for one of their models.
Created for the Extended Wheelbase Phantom, Rolls’ creation wears the name Privacy Suite. It has been designed as a blend between privacy and mobility. In essence, the feature is supposed to aid in the separation of the front from the rear cabin and allow the passengers to indulge in pretty much all the activities they see fit.

The separation is done at the push of a button by means of electrochromatic glass. The passengers can see through this glass, should they choose so, but the driver or whoever else sits in front cannot sneak a peak in the back.

Once isolated, the passengers can rest assured their conversation is not overheard by the driver, thanks to the soundproof materials used. Should the need to talk to the driver arise, an intercom system is available.

The Privacy Suite can be turned into an infotainment hub on wheels thanks to the theatre entertainment system created by Rolls-Royce. Two 12-inch monitors can render anything from movies to the content of personal devices and are fully connected to the car’s software.

“As it has over the past 90 years, Phantom today stands as the most celebrated luxury item in the world. Its legend compels the world’s most influential and enigmatic individuals – men and women who demand the ‘luxury of privacy’ wherever they travel,” the carmaker says in a statement.

“Expressing a deep understanding of this requirement, the marque has created the Privacy Suite, balancing function and luxury without compromising the space and comfort of rear passengers.”

Rolls-Royce did not say whether it plans to market the Privacy Suite outside China, nor did it announce the pricing for it.
