Rolls Royce Ghost EWB in the Works

A new version of the Rolls Royce Ghost is under development and, although it entered production in 2006, the 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase (EWB) will go on sale in 2011. The car boasts an entirely new style which is a good blend of traditional and sporty looks. It is different from all those existing in the market and that makes it even more appealing.

The Rolls Royce Ghost is a new line of cars from the luxury brand Rolls Royce. It takes its name after the legendary Silver Ghost, that was first produced in 1906. The Ghost is designed as a smaller, more measured, more realistic car than the Phantom, aiming for a lower price category for Rolls Royce models.

The Ghost is the smallest of RR's line of cars and, as a result, was dubbed the 'Baby' roller. The extended wheelbase version is expected to be as large as its bigger brother, the Phantom, while still maintaining noticeable differences between the two. Power is expected to be provided by a BMW-sourced 6.6 liter V12 engine outputting 563 horsepower and a peak torque of 780 Nm (575 lb-ft). Power will be transmitted to the wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The car is expected to have a 0-60 mph (96,5 km/h) time of five seconds or less and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Its dimensions place it in between the Bentley Mulsanne and Rolls Royce Phantom. If it is similar to the Phantom EWB, it will have a 250mm (9.8″) stretch, 5649mm (222.4″) length with a 3545mm (139.6″) wheelbase. Its proportions will be slightly smaller than the Phantom's, which measures 5840mm (229.9”) long and has a 3570 mm wheelbase.
