A British company has found that the smallest member of the Renaultsport family has more to give… a lot more.
Starting out with the very attractive facelift model, K-Tec racing has developed a kit that takes the 1.6-liter engine to 163 bhp at just over 7,000 rpm, and peak torque of 142 lb-ft (192 Nm) at 4,250 rpm. So now, the pocket rocket has more power than the first hot Clio, the Williams, which had a 2-liter engine.
To get these amazing figures, K-Tec has upgraded the cams, remapped the ECU and created a special high performance tubular exhaust manifold for the Twingo's small engine.
We don't know any exact performance figures for this 163 hp hot hatchling, but it should get to 100 km/h in under 8 seconds if provided with the right sticky rubber. The price for those 30 extra ponies is a very well deserved £2625.60 with VAT and including labour.
