Czech automaker Skoda has announced that the Rapid will receive enhanced interior details, new xenon headlights and a new diesel engine for the 2014 model year.
Scheduled to go on sale starting August 5, the 2014 Skoda Rapid will greet its customers with a new three-spoke steering wheel, new decorative trims and seat covers and an updated infotainment system. In addition, the xenon headlights will become available as an option on the Rapid as well.
Important changes will take place under the hood as well, with Skoda introducing a new 1.6-liter TDI engine that delivers 90 HP, making it the smaller diesel available on this model. The new mill can also be paired with an optional "Green tec "option that adds start/stop, brake energy recovery and rolling-resistant tires for a fuel efficiency of 3.9 liters/100 km (60.3 mpg US / 72.4 mpg UK) and CO2 emissionf of 104 g/km.
The new 1.6-liter TDI Rapid will become available with either a five-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
