Skoda Octavia Wins Tow Car of the Year 2013

The all-new Skoda Octavia is definitely bigger, better faster and stronger, but it also has othe qualities which you might not have realized. Few people are ever going to stick a tow hitch on the back, but those who do will find it's an excellent tow car.

The brand new Octavia III, which only hit UK dealerships this March, has won the overall 2013 Tow Car of the Year award, as well as the "up to 1,424kg" category. The model that made this possible was equipped with a brand new diesel engine, the 2.0 TDI that now produces 150 PS and


The new Skoda Octavia’s 1,330kg kerb weight makes it the lightest overall winner in the seven-year history of the Tow Car Awards. The car was also appreciated for its humongous 590 liters of cargo space, definitely a plus for undertaking longer journeys. Judges also praised its good value for money and driving dynamics.

“Owning a car that treads lightly on the scales needn’t be a barrier to enjoying your caravanning,” added Motton. “The Skoda tows brilliantly, is extremely practical, good to drive and costs less than you’d think. Most importantly, it proves that a great tow car doesn’t need to be heavy, thirsty or expensive.”
