Renault yesterday presented what it calls "Renault 2016 - Drive the Change", a five-year plan that's supposed to give us a glimpse into how the French carmaker intends to become much more powerful than it currently is.
Besides information regarding the areas the company will pay more attention to (reducing costs, pursuing innovation policy, strengthening the product offer, reinforcing the image of the Renault brand, improving customer relations, control investments and R&D expenditures and pursuing growth internationally), the company has also revealed some interesting information regarding its future product lineup.
Renault will thus become more focused on three emerging markets, Brazil, India and Russia, each to receive its very own slice of the company's investment cake. India for example, will get the Koleos and the Fluence in 2011, as well as a new SUV in 2012, all of which are supposed to lead to six new models in India in 2013. Not much is know about the SUV, except the fact that it will be smaller than the Koleos.
The Duster will go on sale in Russia in 2012, followed by a new M0 platform model in 2013 produced at Togliatti. The Brazilian revolution will begin this year, with Sandero phase 2, Fluence and Duster.
“The success of Renault 2016 - Drive the Change relies on the mobilization and engagement of the men and women of Renault throughout the world. They are the key to the company’s future. It is their commitment that will contribute to building day after day the Renault of tomorrow," Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Renault, said.
"A more competitive Renault meeting stakeholders’ expectations. A strong Renault with a powerful brand image and a benchmark level of quality and services that will make all our employees proud. A Renault established in its French roots and at ease all over the world, making mobility affordable for all everywhere. A sustainable Renault in line with the energy and environmental challenges of the 21st century.”
