Renault Samsung Reveals SM7 Interior

We really thought that Renault-Nissan’s Korean division was done showing us the all-new SM7 sedan, but we apparently forgot to check if the car has an interior, or a steering wheel for that matter. Realizing the error of our ways, we bring you the first shots of showing the passenger compartment of Renault Samsung Motors’ fresh sedan for the Asian market.

The carmaker is saying the interior features “advanced ergonomics for ultimate comfort”, but it just looks like a mix of Nissan and Renault parts. The steering wheel, door handles and seats look like they came off the Renault Latitude, though the stitching looks to be a little different on the seats, while the lower part of the wheel has a fuller design.

All the audio controls are located on the center console and steering wheel, while the information is displayed on the dashboard displays.

We’ll remind you that the exterior of SM7 was unveiled in concept form at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show this past April. The production-ready version has managed to keep most of the bold styling, with the exception of the wheels that have been changed to slightly smaller ones and changes to the front and rear bumpers.

The SM7 is set to enter the South Korean market in the second half of the year as a replacement for the current model, which is based on the aging Nissan J31 platform (also used by the Asian Nissan Teana and the North American Nissan Maxima). Renault Samsung says Korean customers can expect to see the SM7 on the market by the end of the year, though we can’t say for sure what will power the sedan.
