Renault Launches Twizy iAd for iPhone and iPod Touch

French manufacturer Renault, who praises its upcoming range of electric vehicles every once in a while, has just presented Europe's first iAd, with the focus on the new Twizy. This way, the carmaker emphasizes once again that Twizy is especially aimed at the young market, the same audience that Apple is targeting with its popular gadgets.

"By launching Twizy’s mobile marketing with iAd, Renault is acknowledging Apple users as being at the forefront of mobility," Renault said in a statement.

Renault Twizy will debut in approximately one year, after being displayed in production form at the 2010 Paris Auto Show earlier this year. It measures 2,33 meters in length, 1,19 meters in width and is 1,46 meters tall. It has a 1,684 mm wheelbase and tips the scales at 450 kg (the 100 kg battery is included in this value). The vehicle rides on 13 inch rims and offers a 31 liter luggage compartment, which can be expanded to 55 liters.

The car is powered by an electric motor that can deliver 9 hp or 20 hp and a peak torque of 57 Nm. The 9 hp incarnation of the vehicle offers a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), while the beefier version can travel up to a speed of 47 mph (75 km/h).

According to some voices familiar with the matter, the Twizy is likely to debut late next year to be offered with a price tag of around EUR5,000. Of course, Renault is yet to confirm this information, but more details are likely to emerge as soon as the French carmaker prepares the production lines in Spain, where it will manufacture the EV.
