Renault Announces UK Pricing for Captur Supermini Crossover

It might not be the new Clio, but it could very well be just as important. Renault has announced UK pricing for the new Captur, a supermini class crossover which will go on sale starting May 1st and will arrive in showrooms two months after that.

Superminis are the most popular class of vehicles sold in Britain, and at £12,495 on-the-road, the Captur is well positioned to take a significant chunk of the market. That makes it a bit more expensive than the basic £11,190 Clio Expression, but it's still cheaper than its rivals.

The good news is the basic Captur Expression is better equipped than you'd think. It comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, 60/40 split and sliding rear seat bench, body coloured bumpers, cruise control, ECO mode (up to 10% fuel saving), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ETC (Electronic Traction Control), front and rear electric windows, HSA (Hill Start Assist), speed limiter, trip computer.

The only thing that really misses is the climate control, which is available only on Expression+. This starts at £14,495 for the TCe 90 model and also ads front fog lights, body coloured door mirrors and handles and hands-free keycard.

The next trim level is the Dynamique Media Nav, starting at £14,995 for the TCe 90 Stop&Start model. It gives you access to various cosmetic upgrades for interior and exterior trim and pops a 7-inch touchscreen into your center console, together with cornering lights and a leather steering wheel (with gloss insert) and gearknob.

The flagship Captur model is called the Dynamique S MediaNav. It starts at £16,495 and offers electric folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors (City Pack). It also adds heated front seats, 17-inch Explore alloy wheels, tinted windows and contrasting roof and door mirror colour, plus coloured Exterior Gloss and Interior Touch Packs.

The simples way to find out which Captur is right for you is to wait for the official 3D configurator to come out.
