Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, is considered an exclusive modern luxury retreat by Land Rover, but the truth is that it's one of the largest ski resorts in North America as the area even hosted the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics – so that kind of attracts big crowds, not just the one percenters, don't you think?
Anyway, semantics isn't the forte of Jaguar Land Rover these days with the massive rumors surrounding Jaguar's order cancellation, closing of dealerships, and reportedly ceasing operations altogether or turning into an EV-only brand overnight. Luckily for Range Rover, its parent Land Rover feels sheltered from the coming storm, and the British company wants to take advantage of the final days of winter in North America as global warming causes the ski season to shrink year after year.
So, after we recently witnessed the arrival of the $169k Range Rover Sport Park City Edition, numbering just seven units with the PHEV powertrain under the hood and filled with unique SV design details, now there's more Range Rover in combination with winter activities. If the RRS Park City is dedicated to Utah-based Park City and the return of the Range Rover House in the area, backed by an apparition of World Cup ski champion and Range Rover brand ambassador Lindsey Vonn, the new limited series now celebrates the bigger Range Rover and Canada's ski dwellings.
Range Rover House is also arriving in Whistler, British Columbia, in connection with Whistler Blackcomb, one of the largest ski resorts in North America, known for skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, tobogganing, and ski jumping at the Olympic Park. And RR House is not coming empty-handed but rather with the Range Rover SV Arete Edition – "inspired by the serene and awe-inspiring landscape of the region" and also limited to just a handful of examples.
This time around, the SV Bespoke touches are bestowed upon eight vehicles exclusively crafted by the Range Rover SV team as "the pinnacle of luxury for Canadian clients." On the outside, there is a SV Bespoke Special Effect Gloss blue paintjob, matching inserts on the 23-inch triple-finish Diamond Turned Dark Grey Gloss forged alloy wheels, and the interior is inspired by "the iconic Canadian mountain range" with a triangular motif reminiscent of peaks and the 'A' in Arete. Also, there's Liberty Blue near aniline leather with ebony Kvadrat textile details and Natural Dark Linear Wenge with Mosaic Metal inlay.
Exclusive to the special series are the SV Bespoke Arete Edition embroidered cushions dressed in Kvadrat woolen textile combined with Liberty blue near aniline leather and branded illuminated tread of plates – numbered 1 of 8. The 2024 Range Rover SV Arete Edition is only offered as a Long Wheelbase model with the four-seat SV Signature Suite cabin style, and under the hood sits a 606-hp twin-turbo V8 MHEV engine. Last but not least, each example will have a set of custom personalized snowboards or skis from Prior, a Whistler-based high-performance handcrafted equipment maker that uses only locally sourced wood.
