While we had seen the concept version of Ford’s Fiesta ST, we had no clear indications of when and where they would sell it, and how it would be different to the concept. Well, now they have officially confirmed that they will be showing off the production version of the car, at this year’s edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Unlike the model which will be sold in Europe, the US version is (surprisingly) more powerful, pumping out 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque from its 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The list of differences continues with the fact that the US version will be offered exclusively as a five-door hatch, while the Euro version will only be available as a three-door.
Its engine will be mated to a six-cog manual transmission, and this will not only allow the driver to get the most out of the engine, but it also bestows the Fiesta ST with a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.9 l/100km (34 mpg), or so they say.
The exterior features a revised body kit, with new grilles on the front, a rear diffuser, lower side skirts - the look is finished off with a nice set of 17-inch alloys. Inside, expect the regular Fiesta interior with a few sporty touches, such as bucket seats and a sporty steering wheel - pedal combination.
