You'd probably think Porsche enthusiasts would be over the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, given that it's been around for two years. But you'd be wrong, as this model continues to keep them up at night, and for very good reasons.
The reason is its impressive performance aided by the 911 GT3-sourced engine. It is the same 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six mill, which was only slightly detuned. It produces 493 hp (500 ps/368 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, rocketing it to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 3.2 seconds. It is a RWD model that uses Porsche's PDK seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which taps out at 196 mph (315 kph).

As for its bigger sibling, the 911 GT3, it is a bit punchier to compensate for being heavier. The flat-six steams out 503 hp (510 ps/375 kW) and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque here. The 911 GT3 is equally fast to 62 mph (100 kph) and has a slightly higher top speed at 197 mph (317 kph) on paper. It is also a rear-wheel drive model and uses the same gearbox as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

Only 44 pounds (20 kg) separate them, with the 718 Cayman GT4 RS tipping the scales at 3,120 lbs (1,415 kg) and the 911 GT3 at 3,164 lbs (1,435 kg). As a result, you're looking at two extremely fun-to-drive models that offer similar performance. In fact, they are so equally matched that it is hard to tell which one would prevail in a straight-line battle. Or is it?

Coming to answer this question is CarWow with a new video that was just released on YouTube. It is 16 minutes long and focuses solely on the straight-line performance of the two said Porsche models. The Cayman GT4 RS and the 911 GT3 were pinned against each other in a series of acceleration tests that prove, yet again, just how similar these rides are. Standing and rolling starts are on the menu, and so is a brake test that reveals the obvious – or does it?

Well, it may or may not, as we obviously won't spoil the outcome for you. The video is surely worth a watch, and since it is on the rather long side of things, it is a good excuse to take a break from whatever it is that you are doing and scroll down to hit the play button after opening a bag of chips. That said, which one do you think is faster in a straight line? Is it the mighty 911 GT3 or the smaller Cayman GT4 RS that stole its heart and soul? This is the part where you have to hit play to find out.
