Porsche engineered the 911 GT2 RS to be the ultimate track weapon, with the Neunelfer packing plenty of assets for when the one behind the wheel goes for a stint. But what is such a Zuffenhausen machine is thrown at another one of its kind?
Well, the adventure that brought us here delivers a pretty spectacular answer to the said question. To be more precise, we're looking at a 2RS vs. 2RS track brawl, one that took place on the Circuit Paul Ricard earlier this year.
Between them, these rear engined toys pack 1,400 horsepower (with a warranty, of course) and since the drivers know a thing or two about manhandling on the track, this French affair is nothing short of a delight.
In fact, here's Sebastian Vittel, the owner who captured the whole shenanigan on camera, describing the adventure on social media: "Last March I had some very cool moments with the Porsche Club Geneva. Here is the final lap battle with a clone GT2 RS and a cool overtaking on the Mistral straight. This track is so perfect for the GT2 RS!"
Who knows? Perhaps this is a video game and the man was chasing his shadow...
Speaking of the 911 GT2 RS, I'll remind you that the 992 incarnation of the Rennsport Neunelfer has already been rendered back in May.
And while it's too early for the RS version, the standard GT3, if such an adjective is suitable, is almost ready to land.
While the 992 Turbo is set to make its debut in the coming months, we might have to wait for the first part of next year to meet the new GT3.
Nevertheless, with a mix involving a N/A flat-six, an optional manual tranny and an aggressive aero upgrade, our time will certainly be worth it. Oh, and there's also a possiblity for Porsche to bring back the Touring Package, as these spyshots indicate, even though it seems too early for such a derivative.
